What is Godly Discernment?

What is Godly Discernment?

November 11, 2023

Dear Friend,

Last week, we saw what God called “good.”

Human Life is GOOD. Every person that has God’s breath (spirit) in them has received the right to God’s Spirit of Life.

That’s how life becomes LIFE.

The greatest deception is that right vs. wrong masquerades as good vs. evil. We need discernment to see through the deception sin created: While all sins are wrong, only one sin is evil (deadly). Read 1 John 5:13-21.

Deadly sin began in the garden. Look at the diagram below.

Good vs. Evil:

  • Life belongs to God.
  • Life is good or God would not have created it.
  • Death is an evil sin because it takes away the God-given right to live.
  • Death allows no forgiveness, correction, or choice.
  • Anything that produces death is a sin.

Right vs. Wrong:

  • Wrongs (also called sins) are not punishable by death.
  • Wrongs are forgivable and correctable.
  • Wrong and right is a choice between two things.
  • Life was created with freewill – right and wrong.

Taking a wrong turn has no bearing on your goodness before God. More importantly, trusting in our own goodness while mistreating others for their wrongs dishonors God’s good name.

The Abuse of The Law

In Malachi 2, God compared religious righteousness to a husband who abused his wife secretly but was openly honored by society as a good man. He rebuked the priests who taught and accepted bribes as being “abusive husbands” to God’s people, and He refused to answer their prayers.

God set the pricelessness of His Bride (the Church) redeeming her not by gold or silver but by blood.

“If you call “Father” the one who judges everyone impartially according to what they have done, you must live in reverent trust as long as you are strangers in a strange land. For you know that it was not with perishable things like silver or gold that you have been ransomed from the worthless way of Life handed down to you by your ancestors, but with the precious blood of the Messiah, like that of a lamb without blemish or defect.”

– 1 Peter 1:17-19

Faith Pleases God

Deadly sin is unbelief. God wants your heart’s trust. He wants nothing but goodness for you. Let His perfect love cast out fear and replace it with faith.

“You can never please God without faith, without depending on Him. Anyone who wants to come to God must believe that there is a God and that He rewards those who sincerely look for Him.”

– Hebrews 11:6

Believing Him,

Monisha.
